Privacy Policy
(Please also read the terms of use.)
There are blogs which exist for the purpose of dissing others. This is not one of them.
The Author believes, as a matter of principle, in edifying, not dissing; building up, not tearing down. Therefore, apart from making fun of himself, the Author will as far as possible be careful to refrain from making personal attacks against individuals.
As it is unfortunately not possible for the Author to agree with everyone whom he encounters in his life on everything, some critical comments cannot be avoided. However, the Author assures readers who believe that they are the individuals whom his critical comments are directed at that the Author is only critical of their opinions; he has nothing against them as persons. (There are however one or two unfortunate exceptions, but as a matter of courtesy you have been left unnamed).
In keeping with the above, the Author will as a general policy not refer to persons mentioned in his postings by name. A generic label such as “friend” or “colleague” will be used instead. This is to protect the privacy of individuals who may not wish to be associated with any critical comments made by the Author, or who may simply find it embarrassing to be associated with the Author (the Author concedes being associated with him may have a negative effect on an individual’s public standing).
An exception to the foregoing general policy is made where an individual has said or done something noble, admirable, excellent or praiseworthy. And where the individual is the Author’s wife. (Having said that, the Author has mainly nice things to say about his wife, so it is only appropriate that her name should be published).
If you are referred to by name in the Author’s postings and wish to have your name removed, please contact the Author via e-mail at melvyn@musings.per.sg, and reasonable effort will be made to make the appropriate changes.
