Stewardship Sovereignty
Submitted my dissertation, titled "Sovereignty & the Ethic of Stewardship : The Sacred Trust of Civilisation", today. Its premise is that states have a responsibility - a sacred trust - to act for the common good of mankind in respect of human rights and intenational environmental law, and that the international community may intervene to correct a state’s failure as steward of its sovereignty over these.
Wholly idealistic, and totally impractical. But stewardship - a concept from the Bible - moves me because I know that is what God asks of us.
"The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it;
the world, and all who live in it …
… the land is Mine and you are but aliens and My tenants."
Psalms 25 : 1, Leviticus 5 : 23
